Rogue-like Dungeon Crawler made for the Pico-8! Climb to the top of the tower, as you battle through different enemies. What might you find at the top?
The good sprite work was done by a good friend of mine.
This was my first Pico-8 game. I had an idea for it a long time, and have maybe started from scratch around 4 times, so it feels good to finally release it. I did use Claude some to try it out as my company is moving towards it and have wanted us to get familiar with it. Mixed feelings about that (but that is a different topic.) Because of the AI however, it does not feel right to publish it on Pico-8, so this will be Dark Tower's only home.

Got another win with AP on getting hit (2) + Thorns + Heal spell (2) and good amount of ATK.
Still can see how you can survive without any sort of healing. But it's still fun and short
Thanks for playing it and letting me know what you thought!
I gave a few different options for healing to try and make it feel different on each play through, because it is necessary once you start coming across the golems. If the PICO-8 limitations weren’t stopping me, I would have liked to have more defensive options. They were the first ones I took out when I had to start cutting things out due to the token limit.
I am curious to hear what kinds of abilities or play styles you would have liked to see? I am planning on working on another game that builds off of this style, and I am open to ideas!
The result is fun, though one any only optimal strategy I found is to get vampirism asap and up your attack.
